Step 1: Using a flat knife or cake server, gently and slowly slide it between the cake board and the square or round base, all the way through to cut the tape that is keeping them together.
Step 2: Use a second hand to very gently start lifting the cake board from the base.
Step 3: Using both hands, gently and carefully lift the cake from the base.
Step 4: Lift up the cake with one hand while holding down the base with the other hand.
Voila! Your cake should now be lifted and separated from the the packaging base.
