Marie Axelle - Founder & Executive Pastry Chef

"Mind of an Engineer, Heart of an Artist"

Marie's expansive repertoire of interests and hobbies knows no limits, but baking has always held a special place in her heart.

As a child, she loved helping her mom prepare all kinds of baked goods, comforting creations that brought joy and affection to everyone lucky enough to taste them.

After moving to the United States alone at 17 years old, Baking became Marie's safe space, a way to feel close to home and stay connected to her mother’s warmth.

Now a self-taught pastry chef with a background in Aerospace Engineering, Marie brings together her wide-ranging passions and skills through the art of baking. Her analytical mind and technical training allow her to approach recipe development with precision, creativity, and problem-solving finesse, resulting in desserts that are both delicious and meticulously crafted.

Her nurturing spirit adds intention and care to each pastry, and her artistic eye shines through in every design and flavor.

Signature creations and family recipes set L'ATELIER apart and tell a story. Marie spent months developing and refining the bakery’s own recipes, many inspired by the ones passed down to her from a previous generation.

This rare blend of technical mastery, creativity, and heart gave rise to L’ATELIER, a space where engineering meets artistry and every dessert carries a sense of purpose, comfort, and connection.
